US confectionery firm Hershey Foods has said that recent storm damage to peanut crops in the south-eastern US will not impact its peanut costs.

Hershey had been expecting an “exceptional” peanut crop this year, but following damage caused by recent hurricanes, the company now expects an “average” peanut crop, reported Dow Jones News Service

However, Hershey spokeswoman Stephanie Moritz said, “There will be a more than adequate supply of peanuts to meet Hershey’s needs this year.”

“Hershey’s peanut costs will not be affected by the hurricanes,” she added.
