Houston-based Sysco Corp, a major foodservice marketer and distributor, has appointed William Holden senior VP, operations, northeast region.
Holden, who is currently president and CEO of Hallsmith-Sysco Food Services, a Sysco subsidiary in Boston, will assume his new responsibilities effective 1 January 2003.
Thomas E. Lankford, Sysco’s executive VP and president of US foodservice operations, said that Holden, 56, began his Sysco career at the company’s Miami, Florida operation in 1980 as general manager of merchandising. The following year he transferred to the Norton operation as director of marketing, was promoted to VP, marketing in 1983 and progressed to executive VP in 1984.
In 1996 he was named president and COO of that company and in 1997 he assumed his current duties. Holden, who was employed by a regional foodservice company for 15 years prior to joining Sysco, has served on the corporation’s Directors’ Council and Operations Council during his tenure with the company.
