Babylon.com, creator of the advanced reference and information freeware with 5.5 millions registered users, today announced its partnership with Dietwatch.com, the leading one-stop source for up-to-date health and nutrition information. Both companies combined resources to release an online reference dictionary for nutritional terms.

Under the agreement, the Babylon.com site will feature the award winning Dietwatch.com nutritional calculator as a food glossary for millions of Babylon users worldwide. Those that subscribe to the DietWatch glossary have access to a complete breakdown of the nutritional values and key ingredients for the most popular foods such as chicken, tomato soup and apples.

“We are delighted to be included in a service as innovative as the new Babylon glossaries,” explained Gil Gruber, Dietwatch.com COO. “Our nutritional calculator provides matter-of-fact information on the nutritional content of food that people eat every day, taking the mystery out of most popular foods and diets. This is a perfect fit with Babylon’s mission of allowing users to easily access more information and better understand terms when they really need it.”

DietWatch is one of more than 500 glossaries offered by Babylon’s freeware, enabling users to access information and definitions on their desktops with the click of a mouse. By clicking on any word — whether online or offline — users see a dialogue box providing definitions and additional information on that word, as well as its source from the company’s growing base of glossaries. Babylon does not choose the information for its users, but allows them to select the source of their information, creating a unique user experience.

For example, a health-conscious user looking for nutritional information about “salmon” can simply click on the word, and within seconds a window pops up a detailed analysis of the key nutritional ingredients in salmon according to certified Dietwatch.com experts. Users then have the option to search for another definition or link to additional information about salmon or other foods.

“Because of the recent health craze, Babylon.com wanted to give its users access to the most concise and accurate nutritional information out there,” said Shuki Preminger, CEO of Babylon.com. “With this comprehensive glossary from Dietwatch.com, health-conscious users are now closer than ever to attaining exactly what they are looking for at the speed of the Internet.”

Partnering with Babylon.com

Similar to Babylon’s partnership with DietWatch.com, the company is always looking to create partnerships that give its users access to more information. Individuals, businesses and organizations looking to create their own glossaries can simply log on to Babylon’s Web site, http://www.Babylon.com, and locate the Babylon Builder, the company’s self-publishing tool. With the Babylon Builder, glossary creators have an opportunity to present themselves to millions of users globally by offering a hyperlink back to their homepages. If creators already have glossaries in either text or HTML format, they can transfer the information straight to the Builder, and it will automatically reformat it to work with Babylon. The Builder can also process and show graphics in JPEG and Bitmap formats if the creators want to show a picture as part of a glossary.
