US wholesale baker and distributor Interstate Bakeries Corporation (IBC) has announced that Steve Proscino has been named executive vice presdident of its Eastern Business Unit, effective immediately.


All five profit centre vice presidents in the eastern region will report to Proscino, who will have profit and loss responsibility for operations in the entire eastern region of the US. Proscino has more than 11 years of experience in the baked goods industry, IBC said.


He will report directly to Mike Kafoure, president and chief operating officer, and will work closely with Kafoure and other members of senior management to implement plans designed to improve company performance. Proscino replaces Tom Bartoszewski, who has retired from the company after more than 43 years.
 
Interstate Bakeries Corporation, which produces fresh baked bread and sweet goods under various brand names, including Wonder and Hostess, filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection on 22 September 2004 in order to complete an operational and financial restructuring.
