San Diego-based restaurant operator and franchiser Jack in the Box Inc has anounced that its president and COO Kenneth R. Williams will retire at the end of the calendar year.


Williams, 59, joined the company in 1966 as a restaurant manager/lessee, and has held a variety of positions with the company, including executive VP, of marketing and operations. He was elected president, COO and a member of the Jack in the Box board of directors in 2001.


Robert J. Nugent, 60, chairman and CEO, will assume the president’s title on 1 January 2003.


Effective 8 July, Linda A. Lang will become executive VP, responsible for the marketing and operations, human resources and information systems. She will work closely with Williams through 31 December 2002 to ensure a smooth transition. Lang, 44, was previously senior VP, marketing.


The company also announced that from the 8 July, Carlo Cetti will be senior VP, human resources and strategic planning; Karen Trissel will be VP, brand strategy and product development; and Terri Graham will be VP, brand communications and regional marketing.
