Jon A. Boscia, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Lincoln National Corporation, has been elected to the Hershey Foods (NYSE: HSY) Board of Directors, effective August 10, 2001. In announcing the election, Richard H. Lenny, President and Chief Executive Officer said, “I’m most pleased to have someone of Jon’s caliber join the Hershey Foods Board. His leadership and guidance will be invaluable as we capitalize on the immense growth potential of the company.”
Boscia was named president of Lincoln National Corporation in January 1998 and became chief executive officer in July 1998. He became chairman of the board of directors in March 2001 and continues to serve as chief executive officer. Lincoln, with $96 billion in assets, is a leading financial services company with a focus on wealth accumulation and protection products and services.
Before joining Lincoln National, Boscia was employed by Mellon Bank, Pittsburgh, in various investment, product development and marketing positions. He received a bachelor’s degree and an honorary doctor of human letters degree from Point Park College and a master of business administration degree from Duquesne University, Pittsburgh. Boscia is active in several business and civic groups, serving on the boards of the American Council of Life Insurance, World Affairs Council, Greater Philadelphia First, Philadelphia Orchestra, Committee to Encourage Corporate Philanthropy, Philadelphia Police Foundation, and United Way of Southeastern Pennsylvania.
