US food giant Kraft Foods has said its chief executive Roger Deromedi is in the process of making a complete recovery.

“After a comprehensive series of medical tests, his condition has now been diagnosed as a viral infection accompanied by acute dehydration,” chairman Louis Camilleri told employees, adding that Deromedi is expected back in the office on 10 May.

Two weeks ago Kraft announced that Deromedi had been admitted to hospital with an undiagnosed medical condition.

In December Kraft said it had made Deromedi the company’s only chief executive officer. Deromedi had previously shared the role of chief executive with Betsy Holden.
