Services Group of America, parent company for western US distributor, Food Services of America, completed its acquisition of McCabe’s Quality Foods strengthening the company’s capabilities in the quick service restaurant distribution segment.
The announcement was made today by company chairman and CEO, Thomas J. Stewart.
The McCabe’s acquisition will add approximately $151 million to Services Group of America’s current $1.3 billion annual revenue. While it will operate independently from Food Services of America, the nation’s sixth largest broadline foodservice distributor, McCabe’s will extend the company’s overall segment expertise.
“McCabe’s Quality Foods is a welcome addition to the organization because of its dedication to first rate products and uncompromising customer service,” said Stewart. “Not only does McCabe’s business practices reflect those of Services Group of America companies, the company also adds a new dimension to our expanding foodservice distribution and business consulting capabilities.”
McCabe’s founder, Jan McCabe, will remain with the company during the transition of operations to the newly installed president, Joseph Kemetz. In the wholesale distribution industry for nearly 30 years, Kemetz has held managerial positions in the foodservice distribution segment since 1987. Most recently he was division president for Ameriserve Food Distribution in Charlotte, N.C.
Founded in 1967 in Portland, Ore., McCabe’s has become a leading provisioner for quick service restaurants in the west. Serving both major national and regional chains such as Burger King, Burgerville USA, Wendy’s, Arby’s and Arctic Circle, the company also exports to customers located in Mexico and the Pacific Rim.
