US fastfood giant McDonald’s has said that its newly-appointed chief executive, Charlie Bell, underwent successful colo-rectal cancer surgery yesterday [Wednesday].

Bell, 43, was appointed president and CEO of McDonald’s two weeks ago following the sudden death of Jim Cantalupo from an apparent heart attack.
McDonald’s said that during Bell’s recuperation, which is expected to be brief, he remains president and chief executive of the company.
