Edie Waddell, a 29-year veteran of the McDonald’s Corporation, has been appointed vice president, general manager for the newly formed Michigan Region, combining the Detroit and Grand Rapids offices.

“Our ultimate focus is what’s happening on the restaurant level,” said Waddell. “We need to focus on the founding principles of our business — Quality, Service, Cleanliness and Value. We want to continue to be a learning company — one with sustained, consistent growth throughout Michigan.”

The re-organization included the reduction of divisions, from five to three, and will combine a number of regional offices. The Michigan Region will be a part of the Central Division, along with portions of 20 other states from Minnesota to Louisiana south and east from Montana to Ohio.

Waddell began her career at McDonald’s as a crew member in her native Dayton, Ohio. In nearly three decades at McDonald’s, she has worked in a variety of areas, including training, operations, national marketing, purchasing, business relations and environmental affairs. In 1995, she was promoted to staff director and worked in national training and national operations for McDonald’s. She has been the Detroit Regional Manager since December 2000.

McDonald’s is the world’s leading foodservice retailer with more than 29,000 restaurants serving 45 million customers each day in 121 countries. Approximately 80 percent of McDonald’s restaurants worldwide are owned and operated by independent, local businessmen and women. The Michigan Region consists of 553 restaurants and 107 owner/operators.
