A chicken processor is joining The World Health Organization, the Sierra Club, and the Union of Concerned Scientists in advocating the elimination of antibiotics as a growth stimulant for livestock.

The recent furor concerning the overuse of antibiotics and animal by-products in chicken feed and other meal, coupled with the lack of disclosures in labeling, should be a wake-up call for Americans says Murray Bresky, Chairman of Murray’s Chickens that provides a 100% vegetable-based diet for its chickens which are grown without the use of antibiotics.

“Consumers have the right to know the health consequences of questionable farming practices,” says Bresky. “Most large commercial poultry factories, routinely feed human-use antibiotics to promote accelerated growth.”

Since its founding in 1995, Murray’s Chickens has been an outspoken advocate for the humane raising of chemical-free poultry. No hormones, antibiotics, animal fats or animal by-products are added to its pesticide-free feed.

“It’s critical for consumers to become informed about the serious health risks to humans by feeding human-use antibiotics to livestock. Banning all non-therapeutic antibiotics and requiring accurate labeling should be implemented immediately,” says Bresky.

Murray’s Chickens prides itself in the stress-free environment and optimum living conditions it provides its chickens — fresh water, spacious and clean accommodations and the freedom to roam are the rule, not the exception. As a result of these conditions, along with the uncompromising diet, Murray’s Chickens are healthier and more robust and do not require antibiotics.
