Nash Finch Company (Nasdaq: NAFC), a Minneapolis-based food retailer and wholesaler, today announced several officer promotions and a new hire, effective immediately.
“We made terrific progress improving the performance of Nash Finch during 1999 and the first months of 2000, due to the efforts of many talented employees,” said Ron Marshall, president and chief executive officer. “I’m pleased to recognize the outstanding efforts of some of these individuals today with their promotions. We also welcome the addition of a new officer who will help us continue to build this dynamic organization.”
Corporate Officer Promotions
Arthur L. Keeney has been promoted to senior vice president, corporate retail, reporting to Ron Marshall, president and chief executive officer. Keeney joined NFC as vice president, corporate retail, in mid-1998. He has more than 25 years of retail experience with Kmart, Safeway Stores, Grand Union Company, J. Weingarten and Apple Tree Markets. Prior to joining NFC, Keeney served as director of grocery operations, and director of sales and advertising with Kmart. He earned a bachelor’s degree from Texas A&M University and is a graduate of the University of Southern California’s Food Industry Management Program.
LeAnne M. Stewart has been promoted to vice president and corporate controller. Stewart previously served as NFC’s vice president of financial planning and analysis. Prior to that, she served as manager, corporate finance, for Enron Europe Limited in London. She also held various financial management positions with Ernst & Young. Stewart earned an MBA degree from the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania. She is a certified public accountant and a certified management accountant. She earned a bachelor’s degree from The College of St. Benedict.
Michael A. Baker has been promoted to vice president of perishables. He reports to Christopher Brown, executive vice president of merchandising. In February 2000, Baker joined NFC as the director of meat, seafood, bakery and deli operations. In his new position, he will now be responsible for produce, as well. Before joining NFC, Baker was Richfood Holdings’ vice president of meat, deli, bakery and seafood operations. Prior to that, he served as Crown Foods’ vice president of sales and procurement, and as market manager and merchandiser.

Jerry Nelson has been promoted to senior vice president of the Midwest wholesale division, reporting directly to Marshall. Nelson joined NFC in September 1999 as vice president of the Midwest wholesale division. He previously held management positions in wholesale distribution with Fleming Companies, Inc., and Scrivner, Inc.
Gerry Totoritis has been promoted to vice president of the Central wholesale division, reporting to Marshall. Previously, he served as NFC’s distribution center director in Omaha. He joined NFC in 1995 as the distribution center manager in Appleton, Wis. Previously, Totoritis was division manager at York Pennsylvania, a division of Scrivner, Inc.
New Officer Hire
Larry C. Adams has been hired as vice president of the Southeast wholesale division, reporting to Marshall. Previously, Adams was the Southeast divisional president for Fleming Companies, Inc., servicing more than 300 customers with sales exceeding $700 million. Before that, he served as Fleming’s general manager of sales, merchandising, logistics and store development, as well as director of sales and marketing. Adams also brings to NFC a strong retail background, having spent more than 20 years managing regional store operations with Kroger. He earned a law degree from Atlanta Law School and a bachelor’s degree from Georgia State University.
