A consortium of food manufacturers and distributors has launched Maverick Xchange aimed at the US$390bn foodservice supply chain.
Consortium members include foodservice distributors Ben E. Keith Company, BiRite Foodservice, Quality Foods, and Dot Foods. The manufacturers involved include Anchor Foods, Campbell’s, H.J. Heinz and Tampa Maid Foods. Maverick Xchange has also forged a strategic partnership with Pocahontas Foods USA, a national foodservice buying and marketing group.
Christopher Thorne, chairman and CEO of Maverick Xchange said: “The focus of Maverick Xchange is to address longstanding needs within the supply chain. Many great leaders across the foodservice industry have contributed their efforts over the years to ‘raise the bar’ for efficiency and performance. They are true pioneers. At Maverick Xchange, we look to build on their efforts through the combination of innovative technologies and solid business fundamentals.”
Maverick Xchange is entering an already crowded online foodservice market place that consists of ecFood.com, fsXchange, and foodnet.com.
