US bakery-café chain Panera Bread Company has reported that revenue increased to $178.1m for the first quarter ended 19 April 2005 from $129.9m in the first quarter of 2004.
Bakery-cafe sales accounted for $136.8m of consolidated revenues while franchise royalties and fees and fresh dough sales to franchisees accounted for $41.4m of consolidated revenues.
The company plans to report first quarter 2005 earnings after the market close on Tuesday, May 17, 2005.
