US bakery-café chain Panera Bread has said system-wide comparable store sales edged up 0.1% for November, compared to the year-ago period.
Company-owned comparable store sales rose 1.7%, while comparable sales for franchised stores slid 0.7%.
Panera Bread said it expects system-wide comparable bakery-cafe sales for the 12 weeks to 27 December to be in the range of flat to a decrease of 0.8%.
Panera Bread owns and franchises bakery-cafes under the Panera Bread and Saint Louis Bread Co. banners.
At the end of October the St Louis-based company reported profit of US$7m for the third quarter to 4 October, compared with $5.2m a year earlier, helped by new store openings. Third-quarter revenue increased to $84m from $65.5m a year earlier.
