Beginning Monday, July 10, online grocer Peapod, Inc. will begin offering new, free delivery service to customers in Chicago and surrounding suburbs on orders of $75 or more, the Company announced today. The free delivery service comes as Peapod celebrates its 10-year anniversary, and is one of many new benefits the online grocer has in store for its hometown fans.

“This is a major milestone for Peapod,” said Andrew Parkinson, chairman and co-founder of Peapod. “We want to thank Chicago for 10 great years. As we head into our second decade of providing friendly and superior service, free delivery is just one of many gifts we will be offering to our customers.”

Make Time to Savor Summer

With the summer season in full swing, time spent in grocery store lines is time better spent enjoying Chicagoland’s bounty of summer activities and events, from picnics in the park to community festivals and street fairs, to the sun and sand of Chicago’s beaches. To help its customers make the most of their time this summer, Peapod is also offering more delivery window choices – an added convenience for busy people.

Unattended Delivery Adds Convenience

Peapod will also offer Chicago customers the freedom to have groceries delivered even while they’re not home. Peapod’s new Unattended Delivery option lets customers have orders delivered to a designated, secure location – such as a backyard, back porch or a building’s receiving room. Peapod’s innovative, tamper-resistant, insulated tote packaging ensures orders stay fresh and temperature-controlled – or your money back.
