US Internet grocer Peapod and retailer Stop & Shop have announced the expansion of service to additional areas in western Connecticut and southeastern New York beginning 29 August.
Residents of communities in Connecticut such as New Milford, Brookfield, and New Fairfield can now visit the Stop & Shop website to shop for fresh fruits and vegetables, seafood, meat and dairy, as well as national brands and Stop & Shop private-label items. In the coming weeks, Peapod will add additional areas in New York such as Brewster, Carmel, Mahopac and Somers.
Shoppers can create personal lists, read nutrition information online, sort products by price or by nutrition criteria and take advantage of personalised online coupons. Stop & Shop cardholders can choose from a list of items they have bought at their local Stop & Shop outlet by entering their card number online.
Stop & Shop and Peapod are both owned by Dutch retail giant Royal Ahold.
