Performance Food Group is introducing a new product category – irradiated ground beef products.
The company will partner with SureBeam to be the first major foodservice distributor to market a strategic brand of irradiated ground beef products to foodservice operators in the East Coast, Southwest, and Midwest.
The SureBeam process effectively eliminates harmful bacteria such as E.coli, listeria, and salmonella through electronic irradiation using ordinary electricity. The process is approved by the USDA, the FDA, US Department of Health, the US Surgeon General and the World Health Organisation.
The company will launch ten products under Performance Food Group’s West Creek™ brand with the “Smart Shield Assurance” stamp.
