Food service company Performance Food Group has announced rises in sales and earnings for the second quarter ended 2 July 2005.
Net sales from continuing operations were $1.457bn, compared with $1.293bn in the same period last year. Net earnings were $204m, compared with $19m last year.
On June 28, 2005, the company completed the sale of its fresh-cut segment to Chiquita Brands International, it said. All amounts pertaining to the company’s fresh-cut segment are accounted for as discontinued operations.
“Our strong internal sales and earnings growth during the second quarter reflects that our focus on operational excellence and outstanding customer service is contributing to the continued improvement of our business,” said chairman and CEO Bob Sledd.
