US meat producer Pilgrim’s Pride has said that plaintiffs have filed a product liability lawsuit against the company over its recall last October of Wampler Foods ready-to-eat deli meat products.
The suit was filed in the US district court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania on 15 April, reported Dow Jones News.
According to a regulatory filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission the company believes the case to be related to the recall.
Last October, after samples from the company’s Franconia plant tested positive for the Listeria bacteria, Pilgrim’s Pride voluntarily recalled all cooked deli products produced at the plant between May and mid-October.
