Point of Sale Ltd. (Nasdaq:POSI) today announced the formation of StoreAlliance.com Inc., formalizing the much-anticipated expansion of its Internet-based Application Service Provider (ASP) business into the United States.

This innovative concept is designed to deliver a sophisticated suite of “Host to Post” software solutions to grocery retail chains and stores in a centrally hosted, Web-based environment.

Logging on to storealliance.com will allow any retailer who has a computer and Internet access to benefit from advanced Information Technology software at a fraction of the cost of traditional proprietary systems. The announcement was made at the annual Food Marketing Institute’s exhibition in Chicago, by Rick Cumberland, General Manager of the new company, while the Company was providing demonstrations of its new applications.

StoreAlliance.com has been designed to act as a fully integrated vertical portal for the grocery retailing industry, and access will be on a subscription basis. The homepage will offer industry news, information, new product reviews, discussion groups and bulletin boards. A monthly fee will allow retailers to enter the Company Web site, enabling them to benefit from a host of services including retail chain management, e-tailing applications and customer relationship and back office management.

In addition to reviewing previous-day results, the program allows the retailer to carry out performance comparisons on a daily, weekly or monthly basis, thereby helping to identify important trends. These reports can then be presented by chain, store, department, or even sub-department. Operating on standard PC platforms, the user-friendly technology is compatible with many point-of-sale systems in the market with more additions on the way.

Rick Cumberland, GM of StoreAlliance.com, said: “Mid-size and smaller chains are under increasing pressure to find more effective ways to compete in a market dominated by the major national chains. Our mission at StoreAlliance.com is to help redress the balance and attempt to provide a level playing field for all.

“The name StoreAlliance was chosen to represent our goal of building a `community’ of retailers, where stores align themselves together for the common good. For the first time, our Web-based system will offer the smaller businesses equal access to the same state-of-the-art applications as the larger conglomerates, providing them with a stream of rapidly available, accurate and easy-to-understand data at a fraction of the cost.”

The StoreAlliance.com applications are based on a suite of proven software systems developed by Point of Sale Ltd., that are currently in use in more than 15,000 stores across 41 countries. The Company has enjoyed a successful introduction of its ASP systems in Israel with more than 500 stores accessing the service.

The U.S. rollout is part of an $8 million-10 million year 2000 investment announced by the Company during the fourth quarter of 1999. Promotional activities in support of the launch include trade press advertisements, under the banner “Get connected with StoreAlliance.com,” and a comprehensive direct mail campaign.

“We know our customers’ needs intimately, and have been providing them with excellent software-based solutions for many years,” Cumberland continued. “StoreAlliance.com is a means for us to reach out to the whole retail community and allow both big and small retailers in the grocery industry to enjoy the enormous cost and labor savings that our Point of Sale software and systems have consistently delivered.”

This release contains, in addition to historical information, forward-looking statements. Such statements relate to management’s current expectations for the market reception to its new products and ASP services, the potential benefits to food retailers and suppliers, the conversion of sales leads into customers and the ramp-up of ASP users. These statements are subject to a number of uncertainties and risks that could cause actual results to differ materially from those described in the forward-looking statements. Factors that may cause such a difference include, but are not limited to, those described in the Company’s Annual Report or Form 20-F.
