Robert Ligon, former executive of Nutrisource Inc, has been sentenced to 15 months in prison after admitting putting false nutrition labels on doughnuts, cookies and rolls and selling them between 1995 and 1997.

Ligon pleaded guilty after it was discovered he had mislabelled certain baked goods as low fat and sold them to Whole Foods Market and other health stores, reported the Los Angeles Times.
Ligon was found to have sold doughnuts that he wrongly labelled as being covered with carob and containing 3 grams of fat and 135 calories each. The chocolate-glazed doughnuts actually each contained 18 grams of fat and 530 calories.
Prosecutors said some of the products, which were sold under the First Health Foods and First Health Products names, were sold to a store in Illinois owned by Whole Foods.
