Ralphs Grocery Company, a division of The Kroger Co., (NYSE: KR), recently announced the following promotions in the Store Operations area of its 325-store Ralphs Supermarkets Division.

Dan McDivitt has been promoted to Group Vice President, Store Operations — Southern Division. In his new capacity, McDivitt is responsible for 112 Ralphs supermarkets in Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside, San Bernardino and San Diego counties. McDivitt replaces Gary Raymond who recently left Ralphs for a position at The Kroger Co.’s Michigan office. He reports directly to Dave Hansen, Executive Vice President, Store Operations.

McDivitt, 46, began his supermarket career in 1975 as an apprentice meat cutter with Alpha Beta. He was promoted to Store Director in 1982 and to District Manager in 1987. He served as Director of Meat Merchandising and Buying from 1988 to 1990 and transferred to the Food 4 Less division as a District Manager in 1994. He was promoted to Vice President, Store Operations — Northern Division for Ralphs Supermarkets in 1999 and to his new position as Group Vice President, Store Operations — Southern Division in July 2001.

McDivitt is married with one daughter and resides in Torrance.

Replacing McDivitt is Chris Manders who has been promoted to Vice President, Store Operations — Northern Division. In this position, Manders is responsible for the operation of 100 Ralphs stores throughout Los Angeles County and reaching into Ventura, Santa Barbara, San Luis Obispo, Kern and Fresno counties. He also reports to Executive Vice President, Store Operations Dave Hansen.

Manders most recently served as a District Manager overseeing 20 high-volume Ralphs stores in West Los Angeles, Santa Monica and the South Bay.

Manders, 51, is a 30-year supermarket industry veteran. He started as a clerk at a Ralphs store in the San Fernando Valley and worked all store level positions prior to his promotion to Store Director in 1975. In 1991 he was promoted to District Manager.

Manders attended both Glendale Community College and Pasadena City College and also completed the USC Executive Food Industry Management Program. He is married with one daughter, and resides in La Canada/Flintridge.

Ralphs Grocery Company was founded in 1873 and currently operates 450 conventional and price-impact stores under the Ralphs, Food 4 Less (Southern California), Foods Co, and Cala/Bell banners in California and Nevada, from its headquarters in Los Angeles. The company is a division of The Kroger Co., one of the nation’s largest food retailers based in Cincinnati, Ohio.
