Safeway opened the Landover plant in 1968 to supply its local stores with own-brand breads. The plant now bakes 80 varieties of Safeway-brand breads for the company’s 142 Washington area stores.
The closure, scheduled for 21 August, will affect 78 employees, reported the Washington Post.
