Sand Hill Systems, a provider of hosted Internet business-to-business e-commerce applications, recently announced the acquisition of BuyerLink Networks, developer of network marketplaces serving the $3.9 trillion food and beverage industries.

Through the acquisition, Sand Hill Systems gains access to specialized food and beverage companies and their established buying groups, which are uniquely positioned to leverage B2B technology. BuyerLink customers acquire access to cost-effective web services and tailored training programs from Sand Hill.

“I believe the synergy created by combining Sand Hill and BuyerLink gives us a robust capability with the potential to become the dominant e-business provider in these markets,” said Vito Laudicina, President of Sand Hill Systems. “The industry expertise and existing relationships that BuyerLink brings to Sand Hill offers us an opportunity to expand our presence in the food and beverage industries.”

The BuyerLink Networks e-marketplaces allow buyers and suppliers to transact business more quickly and at significant cost savings, compared with the current method of doing business by phone or fax. The marketplaces link members of already established offline markets, such as cooperatives and buying groups, with suppliers to improve efficiencies and strengthen their existing relationships. Sand Hill’s private marketplace and sell-side applications power the marketplaces.

“Joining these two companies is extremely beneficial for BuyerLink customers,” commented Rich Witherspoon, BuyerLink’s co-founder and Vice President of Marketing, now VP of Marketing for Sand Hill. “Because our customers now have a closer relationship to Sand Hill, the technology developer and host for the BuyerLink marketplaces, they will be able to take advantage of the training programs and additional services that Sand Hill offers to ensure that each customer is getting the full benefit from e-business. Our customers will also be able to influence future development of the technology, so that their evolving needs are met.”
