US poultry producer and processor Sanderson Farms has posted a rise in quarterly profit, helped by funds from a settlement with vitamin manufacturers accused of overcharging food companies.
Profit for the second quarter to 30 April was US$12.8m, compared with $7.7m in the year-ago period.
The company booked $3.8m from the settlement of the vitamin lawsuit in the latest quarter.
Second-quarter sales rose to $201.2m from $175.4m a year earlier.
