USA: Smithfield completes acquisition of Cumberland Gap
US pork producer Smithfield Foods has announced that it has completed its acquisition of a 90% interest in Cumberland Gap Provision for US$56.9m, subject to certain post-closing adjustments.
US pork producer Smithfield Foods has announced that it has completed its acquisition of a 90% interest in Cumberland Gap Provision for US$56.9m, subject to certain post-closing adjustments.
Middleboro, Kentucky-based Cumberland Gap is a processor of premium-branded hickory smoked hams, sausages and other specialty processed pork products. The company has sales of $70m in 2002.
Smithfield said Cumberland Gap is to operate as a separate stand-alone entity within Smithfield’s John Morrell & Co.
