Tazo Tea, a subsidiary of US coffee company Starbucks, has announced that it has joined with US food giant Kraft Foods to “significantly accelerate growth of the Tazo brand into grocery channels across the United States”.

The new licensing agreement will result in the potential placement of Tazo products in thousands of locations in new grocery channels over the next year, the companies said. Tazo, a super-premium tea brand, has mainly been available in natural food stores. However, in recent years, the company has expanded to select distribution in major grocery chains and independents.

Tazo produces filterbags, full-leaf, tea lattes, and iced and juiced bottled teas that are available in Starbucks stores, as well as other restaurants, cafes and grocery stores.
