Using subtle brainwashing to make people believe they like or do not like some foods, resulting in them losing weight, may make its way to mainstream dieting advice.

According to a paper published in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, researchers said it successfully turned people off strawberry ice cream, pickles and hard-boiled eggs by implanting experiment subjects with negative memories, manipulating them to believe that the foods made them sick when they were children.

The scientists told the Los Angeles Times, that they have also successfully implanted positive opinions about asparagus by convincing subjects that they once loved the vegetable.
