Grocery retailer and distributor Supervalu has announced it has named Janel Haugarth as senior vice president, and president and chief operating officer, distribution food companies.

Haugarth currently serves as president of Supervalu’s northern region. In her new position, she will succeed Mike Jackson, who was named Supervalu president and chief operating officer at the company’s annual meeting last week. Haugarth will report to Jackson in her new capacity.
The move becomes effective later this summer. Haugarth will continue to oversee the northern region operations until her successor is named.
