In a first for the foodservice industry, twenty major food manufacturers and e-business suppliers have come together to form a consortium of companies, directed by Technomic, Inc., called the eBusiness Monitor(TM). This program was created to provide an ongoing source for tracking and analyzing Internet developments as they relate specifically to the foodservice space. “We are excited about being the knowledge center on foodservice e-business issues, with exclusive research on this very critical and rapidly changing area,” says Technomic president, Ron Paul.

The eBusiness Monitor will be delivered primarily as a web-based program and therefore available on a 24/7 basis. It includes:

  • flash reports on key developments
  • extensive ongoing research among distributors, manufacturers and operators
  • a database profiling dot-com firms as well as leading food industry organizations
  • access to Technomic consulting staff for specific inquiries.

Sponsors also receive complimentary access to an annual conference and a monthly newsletter titled eBusiness Briefing.

Technomic has tracked the impact of the Internet on foodservice for years. Beginning with a benchmark study in 1997, and continuing with the development of a dedicated newsletter and subsequent studies, Technomic has collected the most extensive insights and analysis on the impact of e-business in the foodservice industry.
