Roma Systems, Inc. has signed an international agreement for the development of Tony Roma’s restaurants in the Netherlands Antilles. The company also announced the opening of the first international “Tony Roma’s Express” which debuted in Caracas, Venezuela.

Ruben Mansur, Jr. will develop a minimum of three new Tony Roma’s restaurants in the Netherlands Antilles which includes Curacao, St. Maarten, and Bonaire. Mansur also has the rights to develop an additional Tony Roma’s restaurant in Aruba. Several locations are currently under consideration in each of these areas.

“I am very pleased to bring Tony Roma’s to the Netherlands Antilles,” said Mansur. “Tony Roma’s is well known throughout the Caribbean and South America and we are confident that the concept will be welcomed in our markets.” Mansur currently manages a number of real estate ventures, gasoline distribution and convenience store operations as well as a liquor and wine distribution company throughout Aruba, Bonaire and Curacao.

The company also announced the opening of the first “Tony Roma’s Express” in Venezuela. The Express concept is located in the CCCT mall in Caracas and is operated by franchise partner, Representaciones Tropical Ribs C.A. Although this is the third Tony Roma’s in Venezuela it is the first of several planned Express locations. The Express occupies 430 square feet and the menu consists of Tony Roma’s Ribs, Chicken and Onion Loaf along with several side items including French Fries, Cole Slaw and Cheesecake.

“We believe the Tony Roma’s Express concept will grow both domestically and internationally,” said Sam Rothschild, Senior Vice President of Operations. “Another franchise partner has a similar prototype in the Rose Garden Arena in Portland and we will continue to look at more alternative type locations. The Tropical Ribs team has done a great job in communicating the Tony Roma’s brand to our guest in the CCCT mall.”
