Louisville-based Tricon Global Restaurants, the largest global restaurant company in terms of system units, today [Thursday] reported estimated that US blended same-store sales at company restaurants increased 4% during the four-week period ended 23 March 2002 (Period 3).
For the comparable four-week period, US same-store sales increased 7% at Taco Bell, 4% at KFC and were even with last year at Pizza Hut.
For the Q1, estimated US blended same-store sales at company restaurants increased 5%. Same-store sales increased 8% at Taco Bell, 5% at KFC and 2% at Pizza Hut.
For Period 3, estimated international system sales increased 7% prior to foreign-currency conversion or 2% after conversion to US dollars. The timing of the Chinese New Year unfavourably impacted system sales growth in Period 3, said the company, but it will subsequently benefit system sales growth in Period 4.
For the Q1 and year to date, estimated international system sales increased 9% prior to foreign-currency conversion or 4% after conversion to US dollars.
