A new survey conducted by the US Department of Agriculture has shown an increase in the use of genetically modified seeds by US farmers that is nearly double expectations.
Market analysts had expected an increase in GM use of around only 10% because of the perceived safety risks and consumer concerns involved with the seeds. The USDA has reported however that this spring more than 333,000km² were planted with GM seed, representing an increase of 18%.
