Vending machine operator Canteen Vending Services has unveiled a line of healthier foods in response to corporate and community demands for more nutritious vending fare.

The 75-year-old North Carolina-based company will begin installing its first “Balanced Choices” locations this summer, featuring fresh melon, reduced-fat cheese wraps, and even vitamin packs. Green teas and dried fruit will replace cocoa and potato chips in thousands of machines in dozens of American cities.

Canteen will install more than 1,000 “Balanced Choices” machines for corporate clients according to CEO Mike Kiser, who sees “indulgence and convenience being transformed into nutritious and still convenient.”

Around 15% of items in Canteen’s 160,000 traditional machines will also have fewer calories, fat and sodium.
