US retail titan Wal-Mart has said it expects to report a 2-4% rise in US same-store sales for January, in line with its previous forecast.

The company said comparable sales of food were better than general merchandise, and sales in the south and southeastern US were strongest, reported Reuters.

Last week the world’s biggest retailer launched a US advertising campaign aimed at improving the company’s image. The campaign included full-page newspaper ads that said the company plans to create 100,000 US jobs this year.
