First US Launch of Zagat Content on Mobile DevicesFor the first time ever,, the premiere web-provider of survey-based dining, lodging and leisure information, is offering its world-renowned restaurant content on mobile devices in the US. will now be available on AT&T Digital PocketNet(sm) service, which provides consumers with a personalized wireless Internet phone experience via access to more than 40 Web sites, as well as email, calendar, contacts, and to-do lists.

The launch of Zagat Mobile Channel, a wireless version of featured on AT&T Digital PocketNet service, represents the first US launch of Zagat content on a wireless carrier.

Subscribers to the new service will have access to Zagat’s restaurant ratings and reviews for 45 markets worldwide under the “Find It” and “Entertainment” directories. Consumers will be able to search the Zagat Mobile Channel for restaurants by location, cuisine and ratings, and also cross-reference these categories with Zagat’s trademark food, decor, service and cost ratings. In addition, consumers will be able to make reservations through one-touch dialing.

“Our alliance with AT&T Wireless demonstrates our commitment to offer Zagat content to consumers, wherever and whenever they want it,” said Tim Zagat, co-founder of Zagat Survey and “Now people everywhere will have the opportunity to use their mobile phone to access Zagat restaurant ratings and reviews wherever they are. This is going to enhance the entire consumer restaurant experience.”

“The combination of these services will allow people to find out about a restaurant as they’re walking down the street,” said Kendra Vandermuelen, senior vice president, product development for AT&T Wireless Services.

Although this is the first US launch of Zagat content on a wireless carrier, demonstrated an early commitment to the wireless space in February 1999 as one of the charter content providers of Japan’s NTT DoCoMo’s I-mode service. Following the success of the NTT DoCoMo alliance, Zagat pursued the wireless domain in the US. Along with the AT&T wireless alliance, Zagat Survey plans to expand its presence in the wireless sector worldwide.

Basic – Free

Plus – $6.99 per month
Includes all of the Basic features and adds email and faxing

Premium – $14.99 per month
Includes all of the Basic and Plus features as well as
organizer functions including Contacts, Calendar and To Do lists.

Equipment for AT&T Digital PocketNet Service

AT&T Digital PocketNet Service is available with the new Ericsson R280LX and the Mitsubishi MobileAccess T-250. Both phones contain the micro-browser to access the Internet and both utilize the new Tegic T-9 “quick-type” key pads. The Ericsson R280LX sells for $99.99 and the Mitsubishi MobileAccess T-250 sells for $199.99

AT&T Personal Web Site

All AT&T Digital PocketNet Service users will have an AT&T Personal Web Site that can be accessed from any computer with Internet access. The Personal Web Site allows individuals to use their PocketNet service not only on their phone, but on their computer as well.
