The Ministry of Fisheries in Vietnam has ruled that from 3 October any new seafood-processing plants and aquaculture feed factories will have to have modern production lines installed.
The ministry made the decision (Ministry Decision No 19/2002/QD-BTS) in a bid to tackle the problem of waste from the factories polluting the environment.
Last year, Vietnam had 266 frozen seafood-processing plants, which had a total capacity of 1,500 tons a day, reported the Vietnam Economic News.
