US ice cream maker Wells Enterprises is to invest in a manufacturing plant in Iowa.
The company is spending US$19.3m on moves at the South Ice Cream plant in Le Mars, which include setting up a "multi-product production line".
"The investment allows Wells to increase production capabilities in Le Mars and assists the company in remaining competitive in the ice cream industry today and going forward," Wells told just-food.
The maker of brands including Blue Bunny, Bomb Pop and Sweet Freedom said the project "had the potential" to create 19 jobs.
Last September, Wells announced plans to shut its factory in Utah, pointing to an ice cream category that had been "flat to declining for several years, and has been further challenged by unstable commodity costs".
