Wessanen’s finance chief Ronald Merckx is due to leave the Netherlands-based food manufacturer in April after eight years in the job.

Merckx, who is also an executive board member at the Kallø rice snacks owner, is due to join Centrient Pharmaceuticals as chief financial officer once his term ends on 11 April, according to a statement. A search for his successor is under way.

The firm’s current CFO was praised by chairman Frank van Oers for overseeing Wessanen’s M&A agenda during his time. Some recent acquisitions include the plant-based dairy alternative company Abbot Kinney’s of the Netherlands, and in Spain, organic food manufacturer Biogran.

Van Oers added: “During the past eight years, Ronald Merckx has made a significant contribution to the transformation of Wessanen to become a more focused company and to the implementation of Wessanen’s four-pillar strategy. He has played a major role in developing the finance organisation and M&A agenda.”

Wessanen also owns the Mrs Crimble’s gluten-free cake brand and Whole Earth peanut butter.
