WhiteWave Foods is to roll out a cashew-based version of its Silk milk alternative in the US after launching the line in Canada.
The company has introduced Silk Creamy Cashew into Canadian stores to meet current and forecast demand for plant-based beverages in the country – and the line will go on sale in the US next month.
“Plant based beverages are enjoyed by 33% of Canadian households but our research indicates that up to 74% of households are interested in drinking plant based beverages. The mild, creamy taste appeals to those consumers who are trying to make small changes in their diets to improve their health without compromising on taste,” WhiteWave told just-food.
Silk Creamy Cashew is free from cholesterol, lactose, dairy, soy and gluten.
