The Sanitary and Phytosanitary Body of the World Trade Organisation has been warned
that food importing countries would have no realistic health grounds for banning
sales of dairy products from countries where BSE is present. It has been presented
a World Health Organisation and International Organization of Epizootics report
that contains this advice. Meanwhile, Romania, representing Bulgaria, Croatia,
Czech Republic, Estonia, Hungary, Latvia, Poland, Romania, Slovak Republic, and
Slovenia, complained about import bans in Australia, Argentina, Canada, South
Korea, New Zealand and the USA, saying that the bans were unjustified because
BSE had been found in the EU, but not in their territories.
