UK restaurant group Yorkshire Meatball Co. is expanding its business with the launch of a line of meatball products into the country’s supermarkets.
The branded meatballs will be available from Asda, Morrisons and Tesco with a recommended retail price of GBP3 (US$4) next month.
The line consists of three varieties: Yorkshire Balls, a seasoned beef and pork meatball; Smokey Balls, a beef and pork meatball seasoned with sweet smoked paprika; and Hot Balls, a beef and pork meatball with chilli pepper.
The company said the meatballs are produced in Yorkshire using high-welfare local meat.
The range is initially launching into 200 stores. Owner David Atkinson said the company expects to scale up over the coming year. “Our aim for the end of our first year in retail is to be supplying 5% of our target market, which is approximately 500 stores, increasing to 10% by the end of FY2018.”
