Beyond Meat has hired former Olam Food Ingredients executive Brijesh Krishnaswamy as its chief operating officer.

In a filing with the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), the Nasdaq-listed plant-based meat maker said it has provided an offer letter to Krishnaswamy to take up the role.

The 52-year-old is slated to join Beyond Meat on a part-time basis from 24 August and move to full-time employment from 30 September.

Krishnaswamy has worked at food-and-beverage ingredient supplier Olam since 2000, holding positions across commercial leadership and category management. Most recently, he was chief commercial officer for the company’s North America business, a role he held since February 2025.

The appointment comes as Beyond Meat braces for another quarterly decline in sales, after reporting a 15.3% drop in the first three months of 2026.

When the company reported it first-quarter numbers in May, the plant-protein group said second-quarter revenue to 27 June would land in the $60-65m range, compared to $75m a year earlier.

Beyond Meat is due to publish its second-quarter results on 5 August.

Krishnaswamy will succeed John Boken, Beyond Meat’s interim chief transformation officer, who has been carrying out the COO duties since May.

The company said Boken will “no longer perform” the COO duties once Krishnaswamy takes up the position full-time.

The COO post at Beyond Meat has seen a number of changes in recent years. It has filled the role on an interim basis before, including appointing Jonathan Nelson after former COO Doug Ramsey was suspended in October 2022.

Separately, Beyond Meat's board has also appointed founder, president and CEO Ethan Brown as a "Class III director" for term lasting until 2028.

Brown steps into the boardroom vacancy created due to the resignation of Raphael Thomas Wallander on 28 May.
