French investment firm Breizh Rebond has acquired a majority stake in local jams and spreads producer Les Quatre Saisons.

The financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

In a statement, Breizh Rebond said the acquisition was approved by Lille Commercial Court on 30 April making it sole shareholder of the manufacturer.

Les Quatre Saisons, founded in 1988, makes sweet and savoury spreads, confits, purées and sports gels.

The company sells mainly through supermarkets and hypermarkets under its own brand but also develops products for partner companies.

It employs 33 people and is expected to have posted turnover of €7m ($8.2m) in 2025, up 3.6%.

Xavier Lépine, Breizh Rebond's president, said: “In this acquisition, Breizh Rebond’s role is above all to act as a catalyst. Les Quatre Saisons is already enjoying strong momentum and has a robust brand, very high-quality products, expertise that respects tradition, and skilled and committed teams.”

The ownership change comes after financial difficulties at Quaterra, formerly Bio Conquête.

Les Quatre Saisons joined the holding company’s portfolio of agricultural and food-sector SMEs in 2020.

While Quaterra entered judicial reorganisation at the start of the year, Les Quatre Saisons itself “remains in good health”, according to the new owner.

Breizh Rebond plans to support innovation, including a recently launched energy products range for athletes.

The investor said it will work alongside the current management team on strategy, while recruitment is under way for a new senior executive.

Launched in 2021, Breizh Rebond backs SMEs in Britanny and said it has supported 11 regional companies so far.

In January, Breizh Rebond took a majority stake in Breton biscuit maker La Trinitaine, a 200-employee group with revenues of €26m and 47 shops.
