Fazer has scooped up Swedish confectioner Konfektyrfabriken Aroma, an asset the Finnish group sees boosting its pick-and-mix business.

In a statement, Fazer said the acquisition “strengthens” the company’s position in the Swedish candy market, particularly in pick-and-mix, packed candy and seasonal products. Financial terms were not disclosed.

Fazer Group president and CEO Christoph Vitzthum said: “This acquisition supports our international growth strategy in confectionery and strengthens our position in the Nordic pick-and-mix market as well as our overall position in Sweden.

“Aroma is a well-established Swedish confectionery company building on its strong heritage while inspiring consumers with versatile tastes and products.”

Founded in 1921, Aroma markets confectionery under brands including Röda Hjärtan, Geléhallon, Hallonbåtar and Gräddkola.

The company employs around 100 people and operates three production sites in Stockholm, Eskilstuna and Bengtsfors. It has its headquarters in the Swedish capital.

Last year, Aroma reported net sales of Skr451m ($49m).

Owner Anders Landelius said: “Both a long-term perspective and a strong focus are required in order for Aroma to be able to develop further.

“I am therefore happy and proud that Fazer will be the new owner of Aroma. Fazer is a company that stands for quality and sincerity and that has been important to me.”

The deal follows comments from Fazer in February that it was open to acquisitions after “record” sales last year. The group’s revenue edged up to a €1.19bn in 2025 from €1.18bn a year earlier.

In March, Fazer signed an agreement with Reliance Consumer Products in India to “explore” a local partnership in chocolate.
