India’s LT Foods is planning to set up a new rice processing facility in its domestic market.

In a stock exchange filing, the owner of the Royal and Daawat basmati brands said the new site will be located in Raichur, Karnataka.

The plant, with an investment outlay of Rs60m ($670,215), is being designed with an initial annual capacity of 30,000 metric tonnes.

It will process regional varieties such as sona masoori, kolam and lachkari rice.

Commercial operations at the site are scheduled to begin in February, subject to statutory and regulatory clearances.

Alongside the capacity expansion, LT Foods reported double-digit growth across key financial indicators.

For the second quarter of the company's 2026 financial year – a three-month period that ran to 30 September – consolidated revenue stood at Rs27.72bn, an increase of 30% compared with the same period a year earlier.

EBITDA rose 24% to Rs3.16bn, while profit after tax for the quarter was Rs1.64bn, up 9% YoY.

In the first half, LT Foods reported revenue of Rs52.73bn, 25% higher than in the corresponding period of the previous financial year.

EBITDA for the six months reached Rs6.19bn, a rise of 20% YoY and PAT for the period was Rs3.32bn, also 9% higher than a year earlier.

In October, LT Foods agreed to acquire 100% of Global Green Europe, a Hungary-based producer of shelf-stable fruits and vegetables, to “further strengthen” its ready-to-heat and ready-to-eat business.

LT Foods operates manufacturing facilities in Europe in the Netherlands and the UK.

Global Green’s Hungarian business was established in 2006 following the acquisition of Intergarden.

From its two plants spread over 45 acres in Hungary, the company supplies more than 30 markets across Europe.

Its product range includes canned sweetcorn and jarred gherkins, silver skin onions, peas and sour cherries.
