UK's Lune & Wild has secured new funds to grow the production of its baby and children’s food products and increase its retail presence.

The £2m ($2.7m) funding was raised in a Series A round, led by UK investment firm Guinness Ventures.

The round, which is now closed, also included Doug Struthers, the former Ella's Kitchen MD and current chair of Lune & Wild.

Founded in 2021 by cousins Lara Rodgers and Nadia Simonds, Lune & Wild produces meals and snacks for babies and children.

Lisa Fox, the head of co-investment at Guinness Ventures, said: “Lune & Wild is a brand that defines the future of food: purpose-driven, product-led and building deep trust with parents. Lara and Nadia, together with their team, have built something incredibly special by combining chef-quality food with nutritional expertise, and we’re delighted to support the next stage of their journey.”

The London-based food group said in its statement that the capital will help it “significantly increase” production capacity.

It will also use the funds for “accelerating” retail launches, including its listing with Ocado, as well as marketing and hiring initiatives.

Co-founder Simonds told Just Food the group also supplies nurseries, delis, farm shops, play cafés and members clubs.

The direct-to-consumer channel makes up 75% of the company’s sales, she said.

Simonds said the company’s new kitchen would be four times larger than its existing site in West London.

While keeping exact sales and profit figures under wraps, she said that Lune & Wild is “doubling” revenue year on year and reported delivering over one million meals in the last year.

According to Simonds, the business is focused on “just the UK, although we’ve had enquiries from other markets”.
