Nestlé is planning to spend another $1bn on its business in Mexico up to the end of 2030.

The Swiss giant is part-way through a $1bn investment programme up to the end of 2027.

The company said yesterday (12 October) will plough another billion US dollars into its Mexican operations across 2028 to 2030.

Nestlé made its announcement in a meeting that included CEO Philipp Navratil and Claudia Sheinbaum, Mexico’s President.

In a statement, Nestlé said the new tranche of investment will “strengthen its production and manufacturing capabilities, modernising facilities, incorporating technology and developing more efficient and sustainable processes”.

Just Food has asked for further details.

The current $1bn capex push includes investment in a Maggi factory in Mexico, an “experience centre” for its Purina pet-food business in the country and the expansion of production capacity at its Nescafé factory in Veracruz.

“This new phase reflects our confidence in the country’s potential and our commitment to continue growing alongside Mexico,” Fausto Costa, the CEO of Nestlé’s business in Mexico said in the statement.

“We want to strengthen our production capabilities, support Mexican agriculture and continue generating opportunities through an increasingly robust, competitive, and sustainable value chain.”

According to Nestlé’s annual report for 2025, the company has 11 factories in Mexico covering beverages, dairy products, the company’s “nutrition and health science” arm, prepared dishes, confectionery and pet care.

The business markets global brands such as Nescafé, Nesquik and Carnation in Mexico, as well as also local labels such as Abuelita and Carlos V.

In 2025, Nestlé generated sales of SFr3.58bn ($4.3bn) in Mexico, down 6.8% on a year earlier. When measured in pesos, sales were 3.5% higher.
