US baked-snacks producer Legacy Bakehouse has appointed former Crofter’s Organic chief executive Tim Jax as CEO.

Legacy Bakehouse said Jax has “deep familiarity” with the company, having been on its board since 2023.

His career also includes roles at Pretzels, TreeHouse Foods and Conagra Brands.

The company added Legacy Bakehouse president Alain Vallet-Sandre will remain in position and work with Jax on strategy and commercial execution.

Legacy Bakehouse said Jax's appointment comes as the business tries to build on its recent move to add capacity at its site in Waukesha, the addition of a second bakery in Wisconsin and the 2025 acquisition of cookie maker Classic Cookie.

Private-equity firm Benford Capital bought Legacy Bakehouse three years ago. Brian Behm, Benford Capital's MD, said Jax’s “proven leadership skills are essential for our next stage of growth”.

He added: “His experience scaling and driving results with innovative food companies will prove invaluable for our evolving platform.”

Jax said he is taking the top job at Legacy Bakehouse as the business has “real momentum”.

Legacy Bakehouse’s “diverse set of flexible baking and snack capabilities is a true differentiator in the market,” he added.

Just Food asked Legacy Bakehouse for details of its recent financial performance.

Founded in 1917, Legacy Bakehouse operates three manufacturing facilities across Wisconsin and Tennessee with more than 130,000 square feet of production space.

In a LinkedIn post published last month, Jax said he was leaving Crofter’s Organic after “two and a half great years”, adding: “I am proud of what our team accomplished: significantly growing the Crofter’s Organic brand, nearly doubling the total business, and scaling the organisation for the next phase of growth”.

Food-focused private equity platform Power Sustainable Lios acquired Crofter’s Organic in January this year.
